Jimena Lago was the very first professional porn model I worked with. Up until this point, I had only made videos with amateurs. People often ask me how I got into the porn industry and what is it like to work with pornstars? It was so different to how I imagined.
When I first started in porn, I was mostly filming with one amateur model. We quickly realised that people would get bored of seeing the same girl every time. We then started working with other amateurs, but it was challenging to find reliable people.
I didn’t actually think of myself as working in the porn industry at that time. But one day, I had this moment of clarity and realised I am part of the porn industry, so it should make sense to book porn models to make videos with. Jimena Lago ended up being the first one I booked.
I didn’t know anything about porn and how the industry worked at this point. I knew how to make homemade sex tapes, but that was it.
Somehow I knew that Budapest and Prague is where most the European porn industry seems to be. So I searched Google for porn model agents and fired off some emails.
Booking pornstars
It wasn’t as easy as you’d think to book porn models at first. At the time, it was unusual to have your own website, and there was no OnlyFans. I feel like no one knew us or trusted us.
Luckily one agent in Budapest met with me and helped me book some models. Jimena Lago was the first. It was quite a surreal experience.
I wasn’t sure about booking her from her photos, and I didn’t see anything of hers online. She was very new at the time.
The agent said I could do a “casting”. She picked up the phone and had someone drive her over to the agency’s office.
Meeting Jimena Lago
Jimena Lago looked super cute when she showed up. She was wearing a kind of corset-like top. She looked like a slightly gothy teenager, but without the moodiness. In fact, she never stops smiling.
While sat talking with Jimena Lago, I felt very unprofessional. I wasn’t sure what was supposed to happen at a porn casting. It dawned on me that maybe I’m supposed to ask her to take her clothes off, and of course, I’ve seen all those fake porn casting videos online. . . am I supposed to go further than that?
Don’t worry. I didn’t do anything sleazy. That’s not really me. We chatted about board games for a while and swapped travel tips for Budapest as we were both there for the first time. I didn’t even ask her to take any clothes off, which I think the agent found strange.
Porn time
I booked Jimena Lago for my first ever porn video. I was definitely nervous before she arrived. So was my business partner at the time. We had no idea what to expect.
A part of us expected porn models to have big egos or act like celebrities and be very demanding. I don’t know why we had this in our heads.
Once Jimena arrived, it was the exact opposite of that. Even though I hardly knew her, she felt like an old friend.
We laughed a lot, goofed around. And we made a really fun porn video.
And I’d say that’s what it’s like to work in the porn industry more than anything. The majority of the time, you are laughing and joking with your friends, and sometimes you pick up the camera and make each other cum.
